Three Die In Kano Fuelling Station Fire

Three persons were said to have been killed after a fire incident engulfed a fuelling station along Muritala Muhammad Way in Kano State, North West Nigeria.

Eyewitnesses told Channels TV correspondent in Kano that the fire started when a petrol tanker was attempting to unload fuel at about 3:30PM.

“The fuelling station was already selling fuel when the tanker arrived with fuel, the next thing we saw was inferno which eventually killed the driver and one of his boys,” the eyewitness said.

Some vehicle owners who were on the queue were not lucky as their vehicles also went up in flames.

Some business centres adjacent to the fuelling station were also destroyed after the fire escalated from the premises of the fuelling station.

Although state fire services and other fire fighting agencies tried hard to put out the fire, they could not stop the damage already done.

Meanwhile, the Head of Operation attached to the National Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) in Kano, Usman Muhammad, said that few other people were rushed to the hospital for injuries sustained while running away from the fire.

Attempts to speak with officials of AA Rano Oil and Gas in Kano were not successful.
