The unbearable heat of hunger and high cost of living in Nigeria is gradually pushing some citizens into breakdown of laws and order.
Damning consequences or whether they will live of die, some residents of Bayelsa State, south-South Nigeria have broken into a warehouse where the State Government stored some decayed food items and have carted them away for consumption.
The warehouse located along Isaac Boro Expressway in Yenagoa, the state capital, is said to be the storehouse for palliatives meant for 2022 flood victims.
Raising alarm on the state of fitness of food items looted, the Bayelsa State Emergency Management Agency- BYSEMA said the food items carted away were no longer good for human consumption, because it was stored during the 2022 flood in the state.
Ignoring the alarm triggered by government, looters still went ahead to consume the food items.
The incident which happened on Sunday 27th August 2023 has not still recorded a single victim sick or dead due to food poison.
