The Imo State House of Assembly IMHA Owerri has passed into law the long awaited installation and maintenance of close circuit television CCTV across public places in the state, following its readings at the floor of the House IMHA on Tuesday afternoon 29-10-2024.
9News Nigeria reports that the Imo State Close Circuit Television law 2024 has scaled through its final reading having gone through the committee of the whole House IMHA and read the third time by the Speaker of the tent 10th House, Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe.
At the committee of the whole, in order paper number H.A.B.18 , a Bill for a law to make the installation and maintenance of CCTV in all public places mandatory was read the third time and passed into law this Tuesday afternoon.
9News Nigeria reports that in his legislative routine as contained in the order paper of the day, H.A.B. 18, the Majority Leader IMHA, Rt Hon Chief Kanayo Onyemaechi moved for the bill to enact a law to make the installation and maintenance of close circuit television CCTV in all public places mandatory in Imo state and for other related matters be read the third time while his fellow Honourable colleague, Hon Princewill Amuchie seconded.
By the passage of this law in Imo state Nigeria, it is now mandatory for close circuit television CCTV to be installed, maintained and monitored across public places in the state by authorized agencies of government and restricted persons only.
Besides, there are other sections of the bill that gave room to its elaborate explanation and evaluation that captured the entire make-up of the law as it was presented before the floor of the House by the sponsor and witnessed by the Honourable members present at the plenary Tuesday.
