Salako-Oyedele Mourns Alhaja Kuburat Edionseri, “Cash Madam”: A Mother, Mentor, and Icon

The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, H.E. Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has paid a heartfelt tribute to Alhaja (Chief) Kuburat Adebisi Edionseri, a trailblazing businesswoman, socialite, and religious leader, who passed away at the age of 89.
In her message titled “A Tribute to an Icon”, the Deputy Governor expressed deep sorrow at the loss while appreciating Allah for a life well-lived. “Inna lillahi wa inna ilehi rajiun. With a heavy heart, but with gratitude to Almighty Allah for a life of impact and purpose, I join countless others in mourning the passing of a remarkable woman,” she wrote.
Alhaja Edionseri, fondly known as “Cash Madam,” was celebrated for her achievements in business, her vibrant social life, and her devotion to Islam, earning her the title of the first Iya Suna of Ogun State. She was also widely respected for her generosity and warmth, qualities that left a lasting impression on many, including the Deputy Governor.
Recounting their relationship, Salako-Oyedele said, “I had the privilege of meeting Mama in 2019 shortly after I became Deputy Governor and moved next door to her home. She graciously came over, introduced herself, and from that moment, she became more than a neighbour; she was a mother and a mentor.”
The Deputy Governor shared touching anecdotes of Mama’s kindness, from thoughtful gifts to unwavering prayers. She described her as a trailblazer whose influence extended far beyond her immediate circle, touching lives across Ogun State and beyond.
Reflecting on their last meeting on January 2, 2025, Salako-Oyedele said, “We shared a brief warm moment, unaware it would be our final meeting. Just a few months ago, we discussed plans for her 90th birthday, a milestone I had eagerly anticipated. But Allah, in His infinite wisdom, had other plans.”
She extended her condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the late icon, acknowledging the profound loss of a woman whose legacy of kindness, faith, and generosity will remain cherished.
The tribute concluded with prayers for Mama’s eternal rest: “May Allah (SWT) accept her good deeds, overlook her shortcomings and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus. May He comfort all who mourn her passing. Ameen.”
Alhaja Kuburat Adebisi Edionseri will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a pillar of her community and a shining example of service and grace.
