Deontay Wilder’s team have made Anthony Joshua a $50million (£36m) offer to meet him in a mega-fight for the title of undisputed heavyweight champion.
The deal, which comes after Eddie Hearn offered Wilder a flat fee of £8.8m earlier this month, would see AJ earn the astronomical figure or 50 per cent of the fight purse – depending on which is bigger.
In a video posted on Twitter, Wilder said: ‘Anthony, get over with your man Eddie and Barry Hearn and get them to check their email. I’ve got something special for you.
‘And by the way, all the money’s in the bag. So I expect you’ll be a man of your word.’
The WBC king’s co-manager, Shelly Finkel, said Joshua’s team have 24 hours to respond to the take-it-or-leave-it offer, sent via email to AJ, Hearn, and his trainer Rob McCracken.
The proposed deal comes after the British fighter said in an interview he would accept $50m to fight Wilder and Finkel told Sky Sports on Wednesday: ‘We were offered $12.5m, £8.8m to fight. We’ve offered him four times that.
‘If he’s saying he’s not going to take $50m then he didn’t really want to fight him next, because he’s getting 50 per cent anyway. So it’s $50m against 50 per cent.’
Joshua replied to the offer on Instagram , stating simply ‘Let’s roll’.
