The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA, has condemned the attack on its staff members and called for an end to such unlawful incident.

Head Corporate Communication, Kolawole Ojelabi, said this in a statement posted on its official X handle on Wednesday.

Ojelabi said the attack on their ground staff was becoming incessant.

9News Nigeria reports that part of the statement revealed; “Today, our monitoring officer was attacked by some commuters who tried to avoid paying full fare for their trips.

“The commuters coming from Abule Egba were expected to alight at the National Bus Stop but decided to tap out at Ikeja along, sat back in the bus with a view to cheating the system.

“Following the resistance of the monitoring officer, the commuters thereafter handled him roughly with his clothes torn, his phone and bag damaged and left him with a swollen eye,” he said.
