President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has credited the grace of God and resilience in the face of challenges for his ability to make critical decisions for Nigeria’s future.
Speaking at a special Iftar held in celebration of his birthday, the President reflected on the tough choices he has had to make since assuming office, particularly the removal of fuel subsidies.
“It wouldn’t have been possible without the grace of God. Those close to me knew how much the odds were against me,” Tinubu stated.
Recalling the moment he addressed the nation on the day of his inauguration, the President said his decision to announce the end of fuel subsidies was not originally scripted in his speech.
However, looking into the crowd and seeing the expectations of young Nigerians, he resolved to take the decisive step.
“It was a path of no return for my country because the hallmark of a great leader is the ability to decide to do what you have to do when it ought to be done,” he emphasized.
The special Iftar event was attended by top government officials, political allies, and religious leaders, who joined in celebrating the President’s leadership and birthday.
The President’s remarks come amid ongoing debates over the economic impact of subsidy removal and other reforms under his administration.
