The Ondo State Police Command has given a detailed account of the tragic incident that led to the death of one of its officers following a violent confrontation in the Arakale axis of Akure.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Olushola Ayanlade, the officer was carrying out lawful duties in the early hours of the day when he encountered a group of individuals described as recalcitrant and uncooperative. What began as a routine engagement quickly degenerated into a heated altercation.

In the process, the officer was brutally stabbed by one of the assailants, leaving him critically injured and struggling for life.

An emergency response was immediately activated as operatives were deployed to the scene to restore order and apprehend the perpetrators. Two suspects, Shina Jacob, 25, and Felix Olalekan, 32, were arrested in connection with the fatal att@ck.

The wounded officer was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention, but despite desperate efforts by medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Authorities have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the probe.

The Command also warned against the spread of false narratives capable of inciting fear or misrepresenting the true situation.

Reaffirming its stance, the Police noted that while it will not tolerate misconduct from its personnel, any attack on officers performing lawful duties will be met with decisive legal action.

The Command called for calm and cooperation from residents, urging citizens to rely only on verified information from official sources.
