A Chadian woman allegedly wanted in connection with the murder case in Chad has been arrested in Kano State by INTERPOL operatives and subsequently repatriated to Chad.
The woman was reportedly apprehended after fleeing Chad and entering Nigeria.
Operatives of INTERPOL National Central Bureau, Abuja, on Saturday, August 15, announced the arrest and repatriation of female Chadian national Mahadijiria Abdoulaye, who was wanted by authorities in N’ Djamena over the alleged murder of Nazik Mahamatu Saleh.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, in a statement on Saturday said Abdoulaye was arrested at Railway Quarters, Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, on August 5, 2026 following coordinated intelligence operations.
According to police Saleh was tortured and killed on May 3, 2026.
An international warrant of arrest was subsequently issued by the Court of Appeal in N’ Djamena on June 22 for Abdoulaye and her alleged accomplice, Fatime Seroussi Mouktar, in connection with the case.
The police said Abdoulaye, who was also linked to alleged narcotics trafficking activities in Chad, fled to Nigeria following the incident.
She was traced to Kano and arrested by operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja following intelligence shared through International policing channels. Following her arrest, Abdoulaye was repatriated to N’ Djamena, Chad through Lome, Togo, under established bilateral police cooperation arrangements.
Commending the operation, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwanu Disu, praised the operatives of the INTERPOL NCB Abuja for their professionalism, diligence and effective coordination with their Chadian counterparts.
Disu said the successful arrest and repatriation demonstrated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring that fugitives do not evade justice by crossing international borders.
