A former speaker of the Imo state house of assembly and public speaker, Rt. Hon. Ike Ibe has paid a condolence visit to Her Excellency, Lady Victoria Mbakwe, over the death of her son, Chief Alex Mbakwe, son of the late Dr. Sam Mbakwe, the first civilian governor of Imo State.
Speaking after the visit, Ibe described the late Chief Mbakwe as a great friend and brother whose passing has left a painful void.
“May the soul of my brother and friend Alex rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing.
May God take absolute control.” He said.
According to the former speaker, the visit was meant to stand with the bereaved mother and the wider family in this difficult period and to honor the memory of the departed.
Grief has gripped family, friends and associates following the news of Chief Mbakwe’s death.
Dr. Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe, popularly known as “Dee Sam,” governed Imo State from October 1979 to December 1983.
Details of the burial and funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
