A female thrift (Ajo) organizer in Ogun State has cried out over the alleged refusal of a beneficiary to pay his outstanding balance six months after collecting his contribution.
The beneficiary, identified as Adekunle, was said to have collected a total sum of N700,000 from the organizer – N500,000 on April 5, 2026 and the balance on April 10, 2026.
The organizer, who started the monthly contribution in January 2026 which ended in July 2026, alleged that Adekunle was a serial defaulter throughout the scheme, often paying late or not at all.
According to her, since the Ajo ended in July, she has been struggling to recover an outstanding N100,000 from him.
“Anytime I call him, he will be promising to pay. Sometimes he will insult me, other times he will speak calmly as if he wants to pay. It has been from July till now,” she lamented.
She said she was forced to report the matter to a journalist after months of failed appeals.
The organizer disclosed that even as of Saturday, October 18, 2026, Adekunle was still begging her to drop the story and was sending people to plead with her not to tarnish his image, yet he has refused to pay the money.
She described the act as cheating and intimidation because she is a woman.
“I feel cheated because I am a lady. He thinks he can take advantage of me. I worked hard for that money. If he does not pay, I will have no choice than to post his pictures and videos on all social media platforms and declare him a scammer so people will be aware,” she threatened.
she also made it known that she has reported the case to the Police station at Igbesa in the early hours of today.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts to recover the N100,000 have proved abortive.
