Nwanwa is a grandchild.either from a male or a female child. Example, I am a nwanwa nde Nekede, because my beautiful mother is from Nekede.

Nwanwa from a female child married outside is considered with a more value especially if the nwanwa is very mannered, kind , supportive, humble and respectful like Chief Charles Orie.

Let me wet your appetite with some culinary traditional information by letting us know that the arrival of a Nwanwa born by a female child attracts the killing of cock ( a male chicken /oke okpa / cockcrowcoo) to herald his or her arrival.

The Nwanwa [male ] member of the family is held in high esteem because he is the one that makes the first digging of a burial site chosen by his sister’s children who are married outside the community.
