The Family of Late Deacon Geoffrey and Priscilla Okere of Umuchima Ihiagwa in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State Nigeria laid to rest the second son, Chief Ikechi Okere Friday,5-04-2024.
The burial took place at the popular Baptist Church, Ihiagwa amidst tears and commendations for a life well spent.
Speaking at the church service, a USA based Senior Pastor of Jesus House Dantim of the Redeemed Church of God Texas, Pastor Charles Thomas told the congregation that every impact one would make on earth matters in a short time of existence on planet earth.
His biblical reference points was taken from the book of 1Theso 4:13 which stated that the passing of the saints is a sleep not death as established by the Bible while assuring the living that the dead has gone back to God to render his accounts to his Creator.
Speaking on The Title: “WHO DO PEOPLE SAY THAT I AM ” Matthew 16:13-20, the USA based preacher said – Self Examination should be a pivotal role in the life of the living mostly Christians whose journey in life started and ended up in God.
He further refered the second phase of the question as a direct speech, The question- “Who exactly is me”?, matters alot.
Pastor Thomas added that the problem of of believers on earth is Faith, referring the miracles performed by Jesus as recorded in John 4: as a proof of the manifestation of the work of God.
The USA preacher of RCCG who took the center stage made a brief sermon to remind the living of the power of God in all circumstances and conditions of life.
Using King Nebuchadnezzar 7Yrs punishment and Dorcas’s death, Pastor Charles ended up with the proofs of 1corth 5- which thought of the mortal and immortal life of humanity.
“If the trumpet sounds now , where will you be ! The choice is ours. Heaven and Hell are real. But how well we lived our life will determine our judgement by God!
Pastor Emeka Okere while reading the lesson, assured the Christians of a sure resurrection on the glorious morning. He thanked the baptist family and the crowds of guests, relatives, in-laws and friends that turned out en- masse to witness the burial of his elder brother.
At a young age, Chief Okere gave his life to Christ and was baptized in the Otamiri River.
While growing up , he was a strong member of the First baptist church choir in Ihiagwa Owerri, Nigeria. Late Ikechi left Nigeria in 1985 to the United States of America and attended Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia where he received his associates degree.
He then furthered his education at Shorter University in Rome Georgia where he received his bachelor’s degree in communication and Science.
Upon graduation, Late Ikechi Okere relocated to Texas where he built his lifestyle, family, worked and owned various businesses.
Ikechi was a shipping magnet, CEO of Maobi Oil and Gas in Umuchima Ihiagwa. He also owned some Hostels, Apartments and achieved many feat in the United States of America.
Upon his benevolence and kindheartedness, late Ikechi was a Father of four progressive children (Amarachi, Nkechi, Onyinyechi and Chimaobi) and married to his lovely wife, Lolo Udoka Okere.
In his community services, late Ikechi has helped many people, became President of Mezie Ihiagwa Organization, Secretary for ICAN and OPA and Vice President Owerri People’s Association, as 9News Nigeria reports.
Chief Ikechi Okere passed on in United States of America and was buried in his country home in Umuchima Ihiagwa Owerri West amidst cries.
In a related development, Engr Umunnakwe was buried in his Avu country home in same Owerri West Imo state, featuring politicians of note, Community Leaders and dignitaries from all works of life.
Recall that Late Engr Umunnakwe was the biological father of the All Progressive Congress APC LGA chairman, Humphrey Umunnakwe.
Political Leaders from Owerri West and Owerri zone in extension were in massive attendance at the burial to give him a last respect having one of his Sons at the APC party Chairman Owerri West.
The Majority Leader IMHA Rt Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi was in attendance alongside notable leaders from the zone.
The likes of Hon Reps Member Hon Sir Tochukwu Okere Toska, Chief Barr Victor Muruako- Chairman fiscal policy Abuja Nigeria, Barr GAS Amadi, Elder Anthony Ajoku Taco, Hon Ujunwa Okere, APC stakeholders, party executives and cross line of political structures were spotted at the burial by our correspondents.
Shortly after the committal of the remains of the father of Owerri West APC chairman, Late Engr Dr Rowland Umunnakwe, our correspondent at the event spotted, some other eggheads -Ndaa Levi Oguike, Lady Dr Oby Oguzie, Lady Regina Amadi – PhD, Engr Jephtah Marshall, Fmr SOLAD Victor Osuigwe, Madoka Anthony Ordu, No VEX Amako, Lister Okpe, Barr Enyinnaya Onuegbu, Fidel Onyeneke and a host of other political leaders and dignitaries from Owerri zone too numerous to mention.
At Ihiagwa, Traditional Rulers and their Ugoezes, Community leaders, baptist church members, Guests from home and diaspora and host of other relatives were in attendance. Rt Hon Deacon CHIKE Okafor was also spotted in attendance at the burial of Late Ikechi Okere.
