Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has made a bold prediction that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be defeated in the 2027 general elections, regardless of any strategic appointments or political maneuvers.
He expressed the potential impact of political impact of defections or appointment made by the President asserting that the will of the people would prevail.
Dalung stated this on Friday July 4, 2025 in an interview with News Central in Jos, which -9News Nigeria monitored.
“Even If the 36 State Governors defect the APC and he appoints Seyi Tinubu as the chairman INEC, and maybe he appoints his wife as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, and even If INEC becomes the last institution to decamp to the APC, they are going to be defected in 2027”, Dalung said.
He accused the Tinubu-led administration of declaring war on the Nigerian people, citing worsening living conditions and what he dismissed as state-back injustice.
“Nigerians should buckle up for 2027 because the battle line has been drawn by the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The government has weaponised poverty, hunger and hardship and has popularized corruption, impunity, and injustice”, he stated.
Dalung call on Nigerians to aligns with the emerging political coalition seeking to challenge the current administration in the next election cycle.
“The only option we have now is to align with coalition movement to reposition ourselves and confront the government in 2027”, he said.
Dalung has been vocal about his disillusion with the All Progressives Congress, describing the party as a “conclave of sinners” that attracts politicians seeking protection from accountability.
The former Minister, therefore, warned that the wave of defections into the ruling party, saying could eventually destabilize the the party.
Dalung who defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has been critical of the current system, describing it as “Kakistocracy” that caters in the personal interests of a few at the expenses of larger population.
