President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to deploy emerging technologies to tackle insecurity across Nigeria.
He also assured that the sacrifices of fallen military personnel would never be forgotten.
The President made the remarks on Monday at the grand finale of the 2026 Nigerian Army Day Celebration and the inaugural African Land Forces Forum in Port Harcourt.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to modernising the Armed Forces.
He said the government would invest in advanced military equipment and strengthen the capacity of security personnel.
According to him, emerging technologies will improve operational planning, combat readiness, and the fight against security threats.
Tinubu also stressed the importance of research and development to promote locally made defence technologies.
He said the revitalisation of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) would help the country become more self-reliant in military production.
The President praised the Nigerian Army for its dedication, describing its personnel as symbols of selfless service and contributors to regional and global peace.
He assured families of fallen soldiers that the nation would continue to support them and honour the sacrifices of their loved ones.
Tinubu also commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, and the event organisers for promoting cooperation and innovation in defence.
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara described the gathering as a sign of peace and stability, while urging improved welfare for military personnel.
Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Shaibu reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity despite evolving security challenges.
The ceremony featured military demonstrations, presentation of commendation awards, and was attended by former leaders, senior government officials, lawmakers, and top military commanders.
