A Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Kogi State, Adam Imam Yusuf, has been arrested over the alleged diversion of more than 3 billion Naira.

According to the report, Yusuf was arrested by officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, as the suspect was  accused of conniving with a Chief of Naval Staff, Usman Jibrin and former Brigadier General Ishaya Gangum to commit the offence.

The agency also noted that its investigation traced the funds to companies, leading to the acquisition of over 18 properties, including filling stations, stressing that four of the properties have been forfeited to the government so far, stating that legal proceedings continue over the remaining assets.

The anti-graft agency disclosed this in a statement on its website, without indicating when he was nabbed, stated that it has intensified efforts to apprehend other suspects at large.

“ICPC investigations revealed that former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin (rtd.), allegedly orchestrated the fraud through Yusuf and former Brigadier General Ishaya Bauka Gangum (rtd.).

“The alleged scheme reportedly involved the diversion of public funds using 92 fictitious companies that were not registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC),” ICPC stated.
