All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and public affairs commentator, Chief Longers Anyanwu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for pursuing reforms aimed at strengthening governance and improving national security and infrastructure development.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Chief Anyanwu described the administration’s reform agenda as a courageous response to longstanding national challenges, noting that sustained implementation would lay the foundation for a more secure, prosperous and globally competitive Nigeria.
He specifically welcomed the growing national consensus on the establishment of state police, arguing that Nigeria’s evolving security landscape demands a decentralized policing structure capable of responding more effectively to local security threats.
“Nigeria’s security challenges have become increasingly complex and localized. A constitutionally regulated state policing system will complement existing federal security agencies, improve intelligence gathering and enable faster responses to criminal activities while strengthening community participation in maintaining law and order,” he stated.
Chief Anyanwu also hailed the recent reforms to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), describing the new legal framework as a critical step toward building a reliable national identity ecosystem capable of supporting digital governance, financial inclusion and enhanced national security.
According to him, an efficient identity management system would improve access to government services, curb identity fraud, strengthen public sector planning and create greater confidence in Nigeria’s digital economy.
Chief Anyanwu also praised the Federal Government’s approval of an operation and maintenance concession for the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, describing the initiative as a sustainable approach to preserving one of Nigeria’s most strategic transport corridors.
He further commended the government’s decision to reconstruct the failed Ibadan approach of the expressway using reinforced concrete pavement.
Anyanwu noted that the adoption of more durable engineering standards would significantly extend the lifespan of the highway, reduce maintenance costs and enhance safety for commuters and businesses that rely on the route.
“The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is an economic lifeline that connects major commercial and industrial hubs across the country.
“Ensuring its long-term sustainability through quality reconstruction and proper maintenance is a commendable investment in Nigeria’s economic future,” he said.
He expressed confidence that with consistent implementation, transparency and accountability, the ongoing reforms would contribute significantly to sustainable economic growth, improved security and a better quality of life for Nigerians.
