The prestigious Federal University of Technology Owerri FUTO, has conferred Doctorate Degree, Honoris Causa to some distinguished personalities that stormed the just concluded 36th convocation ceremony of the institution.
Her Excellency Senator (Dr) Oluremi Tinubu CON was among the awardees alongside His Excellencies Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and that of Professor Babagana Zulum CON of Borno State respectively as 9News Nigeria reports.
The event took place at the convocation arena of the Federal University of Technology Owerri and witnessed creme-de-creme of notable personalities across all works of life in attendance.
The Vice Chancellor of FUTO, Prof. Nnenna Oti was elated at this year’s 36th convocation that featured the first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria alongside Governors , Senators, House of representatives, House of Assembly members and other notable top government functionaries.
The convocation also featured galaxy of academia, Chancellors, Pro -Chancellors, Rectors , Lecturers, Dean of studies, Professors and Prof. Associates from respective institutions because of the lovely relationship VC Nnenna Oti has established.
Speaking at the event in appreciation of the Doctorate Degree, the Imo State Governor, Dr Hope Uzodinma expressed his deep honored and profound gratitude to the Chancellor, HRH Alhaji Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa CFR, the Pro Chancellor, Sen. Jack Tilley-Gyado CON, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.) Nnenna N. Oti, the Senate, and the Congregation of the FUTO, for conferring upon him alongside Dr Oluremi Tinubu and Prof. (Dr) Zulum the prestigious Doctorate from FUTO .
Uzodinma was conferred doctorate of Management degree, Honoris Causa, at the institution’s 36th Convocation Ceremony.
On a special note, Governor Uzodinma extended his appreciation to the Visitor of the Institution, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ably represented by the Vice Chancellor of University of Calabar, Prof. (Mrs) Florence B. Obi, for his commitment in the development of FUTO.
As a firm crusader for development, Uzodinma believes that education is the cornerstone of progress, through which government not only empower individuals but also secure a brighter future for generations to come.
In his felicitations to co-recipients, H.E. Senator (Dr.) Oluremi Tinubu CON @officialoluremitinubu, and Prof. Babagana Zulum CON, Uzodinma noted that their achievements will continue to inspire Nigerians. He added that Dr Oluremi Tinubu has remained the best first lady ever met since 40 years, he has been in active politics in Nigeria.
And to the graduating class, he gave his warmest congratulations and encouragement as they approach the future with determination and purpose to excel.
Governor Uzodinma confirmed that institutions like FUTO play a pivotal role in shaping that future, and promise to remain steadfast in supporting such efforts.
Recall that her Excellency Dr Oluremi Tinubu CON had earlier paid a family relation visit to the Monarchs of Imo state where red carpet reception and welcome formalities was duly observed by IMSG.
Dr Oluremi Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the glory of the country is by the corner , hence all hands must be on deck to realize the full potentials of the Nation. She added that the challenging times will be surmounted through sincere commitment under the unwavering policies of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR captured in the Renewed Hope agenda.
Note that the 36th Convocation Ceremony of Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) took place on Saturday ,7th December, 2024, during which the wife of the President Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Zulum were conferred Honorary Doctorate degree by the University.
Henceforth, the awardees are expected to be addressed Dr Oluremi Tinubu, Dr Hope Uzodinma and Dr Babagana Zulum respectively.
