Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, is set to return to the National Assembly following the expiration of her six months suspension.
Her lawyer, Victor Giwa confirmed that the Senator, who is currently in London, will resume plenary when the Senate reconvenes on September 23, 2025.
Giwa stated that “everything is in place, and the six months, have expired. The only thing left is her resumption”.

He also assured that the Senate leadership has made no indication of any obstruction to her return, signaling a smooth reinstatement.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended on March 6, 2025, after the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions accused her of insubordination over a seat change dispute.
The suspension included the withdrawal of her aides, office privilege, and salary. Throughout the period, the Senator maintained that her suspension was politically motivated and linked to her sexual harassment allegation against Senate President Godswill Akpabio – an allegation the Senate dismissed.
In July, the senator made a dramatic attempt to join the plenary but was stopped by security operatives, sparking protests and public outcry from her supporters. With the suspension officially lapsing on September 6, her lawyer noted that only legal contest over the matter has now become “an academic exercise”, as the conditions for her reinstatement have been fully met.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return is expected to be a major political moment, as she remains a vocal lawmaker and a prominent figure in Kogi politics. All eyes will be on the Senate floor on September 23, when she is anticipated to reclaim her seat and resume legislative duties.
