SOLUDO INAUGURATES TRANSITION COMMITTEE, RESTATES COMMITMENT TO A GREATER ANAMBRA

The journey to a greater and virile Anambra State literally begun on Thursday, January 20, 2022 when the 80-member transition Committee, announced last week by the Governor-elect, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo was formally inaugurated at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Anambra State.

The Transition Committee headed by Dr. (Mrs) Obiageli Ezekwesili, former Vice-President of World Bank and former Nigerian Minister of Education and 79 other members was inaugurated by Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Governor-elect of Anambra State.

In his address to the Committee, Prof Soludo referred to the Committee members as wise men and women who have distinguished themselves in their various professional callings. He described the Committee Chairperson, Dr (Mrs) Obiageli Ezekwesili as one of the finest gifts of Anambra to the world with outstanding track records.

The Governor-elect therefore commended the selflessness and commitment of all the members for accepting to serve in the Transition Committee

Summarising the terms of reference of the Committee, Soludo said though the assignment is huge and demanding, but it is basically to ensure a seamless transition from an out-going APGA government to an in-coming APGA government.

He added that the Committee was also to ascertain the state of affairs of the government so that it will help prepare the in-coming government to hit the ground running. He described the entire affairs as a friendly transition.

Soludo thereafter went on to commend Governor Willie Obiano for his outstanding performance in the state and promised to build on it.

Speaking about his vision for Anambra State, the Governor-elect said it has been carefully articulated in his manifesto which, according to him, represents the solemn social contract he has with the good people of Anambra state

He said his ultimate desire is to build a prosperous and livable homeland that will be transformed into an industrialised economy and an entertainment hub in the Sub-Saharan region

Earlier, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic planning, Hon. Mark Okoye in his presentation of the state of affairs of Anambra State to the Committee, gave a healthy pass mark to the Obiano’s government in several areas of development in the state. He said government is a continuum and the in-coming government of Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo will build on the successes of the Obiano government

In her own presentation, the Committee Chairperson, Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili presented the working templates of the Committee and the various engagement procedures and timelines which are to guide the entire Committee members in the discharge of their duties

The Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, had also earlier welcomed the members to Anambra state and also delivered Governor Willie Obiano’s goodwill message to the committee

Other dignitaries and government functionaries present at the event include the Deputy Governor-elect, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Rt. Hon Uche Episeni Okafor, Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly; Chief Primus Odili, Chief of Staff to the State Government; Chief Hon. Uche Okafor (Wiper), Commissioner for Trade and Commerce; Engr. Emeka Ezenwanne, Commissioner for Water Resources and Public Utilities; Dr Vin Okpala, Commissioner for Health; Dr. Alex Otti; Hon. Chinedu Nwoye Glamour, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, Hon. Ben. Nwankwo, Prof Okey Ikeanyibe, Mr Joe Anatune among others.
