Nigerian singer and songwriter, Harrison Tare Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong, has spoken out on the ordeals he faced when he decided to leave his former record label, Five Star Music.
Harrysong spoke as a reaction to the controversy surrounding the death of his colleague, Mohbad.
Mohbad, who was a victim of intimidation, harassment, and assault by individuals allegedly affiliated with his former record label boss, Naira Marley, died on Tuesday, September 12.
Harrysong further appealed to record label owners to stop maltreating their signees.
Harrysong in a post via his Instagram story on Monday, explained how he was also tormented, oppressed and attacked by Five Star Music when he wanted to leave the record label.
He wrote, “If not for the grace of God, with the help of some very few good men, I would have also died in the hands of my former label, the attacks, torment, abuses and operations back to back, just because I have served and wanted to move out and grow a little for myself”.
Harrysong ended his take with, “Record labels should stop this do or die thing, killing young talents just because they want to prove label power and supremacy. #justiceformohbad.”
