Popular French rapper known as MHD, whose real name is Mohamed Sylla, has been found guilty of participating in the gang-related murder of 23 years old Loic K.
Consequently, in a court ruling, MHD has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
The incident took place in 2018 when the victim was struck by MHD’s Mercedes, followed by a brutal assault and fatal stabbing by a group of almost 12 individuals.
Despite his denials, evidence surfaced as a local resident captured the incident on video from his window during the summer of 2018.
MHD’s involvement was swiftly confirmed as the owner of the vehicle which appeared in the recording. Also witnesses identified him based on his distinctive characteristics.
Among the other defendants, five persons were sentenced to jail terms within 10 to 18 years, while some three were acquitted.
Prior to pursuing a career in music, MHD, in an interview with BBC’s What’s New? programme five years ago explained that he worked as a pizza delivery boy in Paris while discussing the origins of “Afro trap”.
