In what can be termed Excellent Approval, the Imo State House Of Assembly has commended the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma for the construction of Naze Timber Market Road in Owerri North local government area of the State.

This was the outcome of the Motion, Chiefly sponsored by the Member Representing Owerri North State Constituency, Hon Kelechi Onumajuru Ofurum, during Plenary on Tuesday, 04/03/2025.

Moving the Motion, Hon Kelechi Onumajuru Ofurum explained that despite the unique importance of the Naze Timber Market Road to the economy of the State, past administrations deprived it of attention and allowed it to decay, as it turned to death traps and increased the sufferings of the people.

According to Owerri North lawmaker, who is the House Committee Chairman On Mines and Solid Minerals, “the Naze Timber Market Road is a very important economic road that has many Economic and Social relevance. …… Popularly known as Ogbosisi, connects two Federal roads, namely : Owerri/Umuahia Road and Owerri/Aba Road, leading to many locations and involved in various economic activities of the State”.

Hon Kelechi Ofurum, who is also the Deputy Chief Whip, further explained that when Governor Uzodimma assumed duties as Governor, and realizing the importance of the road to the economy of the State, started quality construction, aware that when completed, “will further attract development, save cost, enhance interconnectivity to major highways and make it easier, faster and cheaper for traders transport their goods and services to other parts of the State without stress, and invariably boosting the economy of the State”.

While calling on his colleagues to lend their voices to the Motion by commending Governor Uzodimma, Hon Kelechi Ofurum further stated that most major roads done by the present administration passed through Owerri North, and as such he remained very grateful.
