Residents of two major estates in the Apo area of Abuja have expressed frustration over the persistent power outages and erratic electricity supply that have plagued the communities since the beginning of the year.
The affected estates, which house both residential and commercial properties, have been grappling with prolonged blackouts, forcing many residents and businesses to turn to alternative energy sources such as generators and solar power.
“This shouldn’t be happening in a country like Nigeria.
“We pay our bills, yet we can’t rely on stable electricity. It’s hurting our operations and affecting our livelihoods.” One business owner lamented.
Several shop owners and entrepreneurs within the estates noted that the irregular power supply has led to increased operational costs and loss of productivity.
For many, running daily activities now depends entirely on fuel-powered generators, an unsustainable and expensive alternative given the current economic climate.
Residents are calling on the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and relevant government authorities to urgently address the power crisis.
