As many as six US soldiers have been killed after Iranian armed forces launched retaliatory strikes against US bases in the Middle East following the killing of Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday.
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that “Six US service members have been killed and five others were seriously injured after American operation in Iran.”
US secretary of State Marco Rubio late on Monday said, that casualties have risen, after Iranian missiles and drones had struck the US base in Kuwait.
Soldier were in makeshift tent performing their duty when the missiles struck the base resulting in the death of the service members.
Meanwhile, United States president Donald Trump has once again threatened to intensify air operations in Iran if it continues to attack the US bases.
Though the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) have continued their strikes on these bases, interim head of the Iranian government, Ali Larijani, on Monday said that, “Iran will respond with full might without any consideration for the talks with US as of now.”
“The attacks on Israel and US bases along with its naval forces stationed in the gulf will continue until Iran achieves its objectives,” he said.
Iranian forces resumed retaliatory strikes on Israel late on Monday, hitting Israel’s biggest civilian airport Ben Gurion with missiles.
Also, IRGC targeted Central Tel Aviv, hitting Netanyahu’s office with third generation Khoramshar missiles, and Israeli intelligence unit 8200.
Unconfirmed reports later claimed that as many as 26 people were killed in the latest Iranian strikes.
Furthermore, the death toll from the Israeli and American strikes in Iran have risen to 550 with more than 1000 injured.
The war according to regional experts has widened and might evolve into all out regional war.
