Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde alongside former governors of Ekiti and Osun states, Kayode Fayemi and Olagundoye Oyinlola, on Sunday, met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where both leaders discussed key national issues ahead of the 2027 general election.
The ciosed-door meeting was held at Obasanjo’s Penthouse residence within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta.
In a post on his Facebook page, Governor Makinde said the meeting focused on key national issues ahead of the 2027 general election.
“Earlier today, we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR in Abeokuta. Our discussions centered on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election. We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history.”
Recall that in May, Makinde, the presidential candidate of Allied Peoples Movement (APM) who is completing his second term as Oyo State governor, officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Governor Makinde expressed appreciation to the former President for his guidance and advice at what he described as a crucial period in Nigeria’s history.
