The Executive Director of Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, Rev. Fr. George Ehusan, has criticised the economic policies of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
According to him, the removal of fuel subsidy and floating of the naira have contributed to an unprecedented level of inflation in Nigeria.
Ehusan on Thursday during a TV programme, said the policies had worsened the economic hardship facing Nigerians, particularly in the last three years.
“The subsidy removal and floating of the naira took us to a degree of inflation we have never seen before,” he said.
In response to President Tinubu’s recent comment that hunger existed in Nigeria before he was born, Ehusan described the statement as unfortunate.
“The President said there was hunger before he was born, which is an unfortunate statement because I am almost 69 years old, and the kind of poverty I have seen in the last three years, I have never seen since I was born,” the cleric said.
He called for more attention to the economic realities confronting Nigerians, urging the government to implement measures that would alleviate the hardship faced by citizens.
