The Kano State Police Command has arrested a woman, identified as Bilkisu Sani, over alleged killing of her husband, Hafizu Gusau, in Rogo Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday evening, September 8, 2026, in Katsalle area of Rogo town. According to residents, the deceased sustained a head injury and died following disputes over his plan to marry a second wife despite elders intervention.
A resident, Auwal Kazagi Rogo, said the deceased had recently become engaged to another woman and was planning to marry her as second wife, which led to repeated disagreements between Gusau and Bilkisu, who allegedly opposed the proposed marriage.
The police were contacted and evacuated the deceased’s body for investigation, while Bilkisu was arrested as the prime suspect.
Gusau was buried on Saturday morning in Rogo according to Islamic rites.
The couple had been married for nearly for nearly seven years, blessed with two children, and Bilkisu is said to be currently pregnant for the late husband.
Sources at the area said Gusau had even asked his fiancee’s family to bring the wedding date forward by two months due to his wife’s resistance.
