Dr. U. O. Iwuji, SA (Media) to the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri Imo state Nigeria has alerted the public on the spread of fake facebook account credited to the Rector of the school.
The original copy reads as thus:
Our attention has been drawn to the nefarious activities of internet fraudsters who operate multiple Facebook accounts purporting to be the Rector, Federal Polytechnic Nekede.
These agents of darkness also use variants of the Rector’s photographs and those of his wife with the sole intent of extorting money from the unsuspecting public. In some cases, they clone the Rector’s account using variants of his name.
Thus, we wish to alert the Polytechnic community and the general public that the Rector, Engr. Dr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa FNSE, JP, does not chat with people on Facebook hence cannot request information of any kind from the public. It is noteworthy too that the Rector has no active Messenger on his Facebook and cannot interact with people.
Accordingly, anyone who sends friend requests or chats people up on Facebook purporting to be Rector is purely a con man and an impostor, and should be avoided. The general public should be guided accordingly.
Already, security men have been asked to commence investigations into the matter with a view to unravelling the identities of the fraudsters on prowl.
