The Imo state government under His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma has officially commenced the delivery of trailer loads of Rice across the originally designated list of groups, and local government areas LGAs respectively.
The delivery of rice started in Imo state Wednesday evening after going through the process of facilitation and purchase.
The twenty seven 27- Local Government Areas LGAs in Imo State Nigeria have taken absolute delivery of trailer loads of Rice allocated to the area.
This was inline with the Government sharing of N54b naira palliatives dolled out to respective states by the Tinubu’s led administration Targetted at reducing hunger in Nigeria.
In some of the LGAs visited, the Sole administrators SOLAD and House of Assembly Members were busy issuing out directives while the bags of rice were delivered.
We are yet to establish the exact number of bags or trailers of Rice allocated to each Local Government Area because of the late hours the delivery was captured by pressmen.
It was confirmed that trailers carrying bags of palliative rice for Imo have arrived the state and duly taken delivery to respective LGAs and group enlisted by Uzodinma’s shared prosperity government.
However, LGAs that are yet to be cleared will definitely complete the process of delivery for onward , facilitation to onload and offload at council headquarters as directed.
It is the expectation of Imo people at large to enjoy the sharing without hitches or maybe diverts by some political leaders in the area.
Another factor that may likely raise some dust is the determination of the process of sharing from the local government area council headquarters to the wards or in extension to the polling units across the state.
In Owerri West, the SOLAD, Hon Victor Osigwe and the Majority Leader Rt Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi arrived at the venue of the palliative for Owerri west and directed for its safe delivery while waiting for further clarification on how to go about the bags of rice accordingly.
We have also confirmed that Owerri municipal, Owerri North and Ngor Okpala have all received their trailer loads of Rice palliative from Imo state government as promised.
In addition, Other Local Government Areas like, Ohaji Egbema, Oguta, Nwangele, Ikeduru, Mbaitolu amongst other LGAs have also taken delivery while the remaining LGAs mainly in Okigwe and Orlu zones will continue the facilitation and delivery Thursday as gathered by our News men.
Note that the process of delivery to all the LGAs almost took the day because of the facilitation of loading and offloading to respective trailers designated to each Local Government Area.
While some persons were thankful to the government for The fulfilment of this plan, others are saying that the money used to buy the Rice is a wasteful venture.
Our reporters from some other states have confirmed the sharing of palliatives as real and verifiable though there were hitches that may have delayed the process in some states.
Imo state have joined the league of states that delivered the government approved palliatives to the people while calling on government to put more efforts to sustain this tempo to reduce hunger in the land.
No doubt, at the end of the delivery exercise at various LGAs and wards across the state, the people will call for comprehensive checks and balances.
All the groups enlisted in the state are expected to benefit from the Federal Government Palliative measure introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
