A Nigerian lady, Amara Vanessa, based in Nnewi, Anambra State has reportedly called off wedding just a day before the scheduled ceremony, citing emotional incompatibility with her fiance.
The wedding which was set to take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2025,was cancelled on Tuesday, January 7, after Vanessa shared a heartfelt message on social media, revealing her reasons for the sudden decision.
In her post, Vanessa expressed her emotional toll she had faced; “Anywhere you see me, just dash me money ‘cos 2024 showed me shege and pepper with a little bit of ice cream mixed with bitter leaf, then medium size of fufu and ora soup but I came out stronger and better”
She further revealed that the wedding cancellation stemmed from personal struggles and determination to avoid emotionally draining relationships.
“I was supposed to be married tomorrow but I cancelled it due to some personal reasons. I can’t afford anymore situations in my life that bring out the worst in me. I can’t afford bonding with another wrong souls. It’s exhausting and requires too much for me to recover from. I need calmness and gentleness in my life. I need love, and I need my own man”
Her decision has sparked widespread reactions online, with many commending her courage to prioritize her emotional well-being over societal expectations.
