Imo House of Assembly IMHA has filed-in a serious petition for the security agencies in the state to delve into thorough investigation, possible arrest and prosecution of the assailant (s) that murdered one Mrs Chinwendu Amadi.
Sponsor of the motion, member representing Ngor Okpala state Constituency in IMHA, Hon Obinna Egu condemned the gruesome murder of a pregnant woman identified as Mrs Chinwendu Amadi who hails from Awogu- Logara in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area by unknown assailant at Sam MbakweAirport.
Honestly Egu stated that penultimate week, horrific and senseless crime was perpetrated at the runway side of Sam Mbakwe International cargo airport in Owerri, resulting in a tragic murder of a pregnant woman.
Investigation revealed that late Mrs Chinwendu Amadi was said to have been raped and killed at the Sam Mbakwe cargo Airport runway in Imo State as 9News Nigeria reports.
Commending the dedicated efforts of the Police, Army, department of state services DSS, Air force , and other security agencies in Imo state fir their bravery and commitment to maintaining law and order and safeguarding citizens and infrastructure in the face of brazen atrocity, the Lawmaker stated that the of this expectant mother has sent shock waves throughout the Airport and surrounding communities.
He added that the killing incited widespread outrage and condemnation in Imo state while expressing a total heartbreak for the lost of both the woman and her unborn child in such a despicable act.
The motion was seconded and co-sponsored by six other Honourable members present at the plenary. In this light, IMHA requested the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria FAAN to construct perimeter fence within the Airport premises to prevent unauthorized access and to enhance security.
The House of Assembly had earlier called on security agencies to carry out thorough investigation to identify the killers of the pregnant woman and her unborn child and bring them to book to face the law.
