The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the cancellation of all import declarations made during the implementation of the now-suspended 4% Free-on-Board (FOB) charge on imports.
According to the Service, this move is aimed at ensuring clarity, maintaining consistency in customs operations, and preventing disruptions in the clearance process.
In a statement issued on February 24, 2025, the NCS directed all affected importers, customs agents, and stakeholders to recapture their declarations to facilitate the clearance of their goods.
The Service assured that measures have been put in place to make the process seamless, with Customs Commands nationwide instructed to provide necessary assistance and clarifications.
Reaffirming its commitment to government fiscal policies and the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023, the NCS emphasized that the move is part of its broader effort to enhance efficiency and maintain public-centric service delivery.
Under the leadership of Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the NCS pledged continued transparency and openness in its engagement with stakeholders.
Importers and agents are urged to comply with the directive promptly to avoid further delays in the clearance of their consignments.
For further inquiries, affected stakeholders are advised to contact designated Customs offices for guidance and support.
