-Says Owerri Leadership Tussle is a Spite On Deputy Governor Prof. Placid Njoku

By Princely Onyenwe,Imo

Prior to 2019 governorship election in Imo State, the two known notable groups in APC are Imo APC Coalition made up eminent sons and daughters of Imo State who are directly opposed to leadership style of the then governor and another gruop, led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha popularly known as Ndi-Agburu. While Imo State APC Coalition succeded in ensuring that Owelle Okorocha was unable to succed himself by proxy, Mr. Uche Nwosu whose candidature Gov. Rochas Okorocha intended to use in turning Imo into a mini dynasty employed the services of men like Chief Charles Amadi aka Charvon to lead his campaign.

It is on record that Imo State APC Coalition was able to successfully wrestle the sole of the party from Owelle Okorocha before Adams Oshiomhole assumed leadership of the party at the national level. The assumption of Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of APC changed the narrative in Imo State Chapter of APC as Gov. Okorocha and his followers were favoured through nullification of the already ratified state congresses in the state.

When Senator Hope Uzodinma joined APC, the Imo State APC Coalition collapsed its structure to CampHope while Chief Charles Amadi (Charvon) and others remained with Ndi-Agburu. Charvon who benefited immensely from the government of Owelle Rochas Okorocha was determined in ensuring that Uche Nwosu gets the ticket of the party. When Uche Nwosu was defeated by Senator Hope Uzodinma for APC governorship ticket, Chief Amadi aka Charvon joined him to his new party Action Alliance (AA). Chief Amadi and co remained in AA until they were defeated at the general election.

It is unfortunate that Chief Charles Amadi who was with Uche Nwosu throughout the general election and who contributed nothing in the making of Senator Hope Uzodinma as Executive Governor of Imo State has gathered all manner of Ndi-Agburu apologists to play lip service as if they are supporting Senator Uzodinma. It is on record that all present campaign of calumny and propaganda against the governor are done by Ndi-Agburu. This new found love of Charvon and his Ndi-Agburu is a mere ploy to hoodwink the governor into believing that they are in support of this administration while they unleash terror and ambush the governor against 2024 governorship election in the state. I enjoin the Governor of Imo state not to fall to these antics as Charvon and co has hidden agenda.

Chief Charles Amadi new found love for Senator Uzodinma is only to grab the leadership structure of APC and use same for Uche Nwosu’s ambition in 2024. There are leaders from Owerri zone who remained committed to the candidature of Senator Hope Uzodinma during and after the election. Such leaders are still committed to advance the course of Senator Uzodinma beyond 2024. It is laughable for Chief Amadi to openly contest leadership of APC in Owerri zone when the likes of H/E, Prof. Placid Njoku, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, H/E, Eze Madumere, former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Dr. Uzoma Obiyo, Chairman of Imo State APC Coalition, Dr. TOE Ekechi, Commissioner representing South East in the North East Development Commission, Hon. Jasper Azuatalam, BOT Member of the APC, Rt. Hon. KK Nwaugwu, former Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, etc are quietly supporting and enlarging the fan base of the Governor in Owerri zone. You can recall that the Deputy Governor of Imo State, H/E Prof Placid Njoku last month, convened a unification meeting between those loyal to Dr. Uzoma Obiyo and Chief Charles Amadi. In that meeting, it was agreed that anything that will cause rancour in Ikeduru LGA and Owerri Zone in general so long the Deputy Governor, as Apex Leader of Owerri Zone will not be accepted by members of the party. To our greatest dismay, Chief Lemmy Akakem and Chief Charles Amadi (Charvon) have continued to portray themselves as Apex Leaders in a zone that has serving Deputy Governor. From available information gathered, that meeting convened by the duo does not have the approval of Imo State Chapter of the APC.

In a desperate bid to hatch their evil plans, the duo of Chief Akakem and Charvon with few others are planning to host Governor Hope Uzodinma in the guise of Owerri Zonal solidarity and thanksgiving service. This gathering which has no approval of critical stakeholders in Owerri zone should be discountenanced as it does not have the approval of the leadership of Owerri zone. The public should also note that such gathering as proposed by Chief Lemmy Akakem and Charvon is contradictory to the peace and unity of the party in the zone.

In the purported meeting were the resolution of hosting the governor was made, most people in the list of attendants were not aware of the meeting. The organisers only included names in the list of attendants to make it look like all inclusive. Dr. Obiyo whose name appeared in the list never attended the meeting. To the greatest dismay of party members in the zone, the next person in protocol rank from the zone after the Deputy Governor, Ambassador Uche Ogbuagu, the Majority Leader of Imo State House of Assembly was not aware of the meeting.

I wish to reiterate that for result oriented leadership meeting of the zone, and for a great honour to be bestowed on our state governor, all leaders of the zone both political, traditional, social, spiritual, etc should be on the know and such must be under the leadership of Prof. Placid Njoku.

The meeting as convened by Chief Charles Amadi and others does not have the approval of Owerri Zone leadership and such meeting is not for the best interest of Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo State.
