Nigerian influencer Saida Boj has set social media ablaze with her latest controversial remarks about dating and financial expectations.
Speaking on Honest Brunch, hosted by Nedu Wazobia, the influencer, whose real name is Sarah Idaji Ojone, encouraged women to assess a man’s financial capability early in a relationship.
“Why waste time on someone who can’t meet your standard?”, Saida argued, urging women to begin “billing” men within 24 hours of exchanging contact information.
She framed the practice as a “test” of both financial ability and commitment, asserting that her approach reflects self-worth rather than desperation.
“For a man to have access to me, it’s a privilege, and privileges comes with costs”, Saida declared, responding to criticism from Nedu, who suggested her views might appear transactional.
Her bold stance has drawn mixed reactions. While some supporters praised her for unapologetically setting standards, others criticized her for allegedly promoting materialism in relationships, rather than promoting or focusing on realities.
The debate highlights ongoing conversations around modern dating, gender role, and the evolving definition of relationship dynamics in Nigeria and beyond.
