Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, have intensified their offensive against Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements.
They intercepted critical logistics and arrested suspects in recent operations across Borno and Adamawa States.
According to military authorities, the operations, conducted between September 19 and 24 under Operation Desert Sanity IV targeted the insurgents’ supply networks, disrupting fuel and fertilizer smuggling routes commonly used to sustain their activities.
In Adamawa State, soldiers of the 232 Battalion and Sector 4 Special Forces seized 21 jerricans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) along the Vintim, Tsamiya, and Fillin Ball–Gella axis of Mubi.
At the Mubi Central Market, large quantities of urea fertilizer, often used by terrorists in the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), were abandoned by suspected suppliers who fled the scene.
In Borno State, troops of the 73 Battalion, supported by Civilian Joint Task Force and Hybrid Forces, ambushed terrorists at Kolori Karumi near Alau Dam on September 22, killing a Boko Haram scout during a night encounter.
The following day, soldiers of the 112 Task Force Battalion at Forward Operating Base Ngwom arrested a 54-year-old suspect, Thomas James, while attempting to transport 23 bottles of PMS concealed in a bag to Gamboru Ngala. Preliminary investigations linked him to insurgent fuel supply lines.
Similarly, on September 24, troops working with local hunters apprehended a 31-year-old Boko Haram fighter, identified as Ahmadu Buba, in Garkida, Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Buba, a native of Sabon Gari Kimba in Damboa, confessed to joining Boko Haram in April 2025 and admitted involvement in attacks on Mandaragirau and the destruction of Mandahuma Bridge earlier this year.
Military spokesperson, Lt-Col. Sani Uba, described the recent breakthroughs as a significant disruption to insurgent operations.
“These consistent interceptions have dealt a blow to terrorist logistics and IED-making capacity. The troops’ gallantry and alertness continue to sustain operational successes in the North East,” he said.
