Former United States President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran is in a “state of collapse,” alleging that Tehran is seeking urgent intervention over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
In a post monitored by 9News Nigeria on his official Truth Social account, Trump stated that Iran had allegedly reached out regarding its internal situation and requested the immediate reopening of the vital oil passage.
“Iran has just informed us that they are in a ‘State of Collapse.’ They want us to ‘Open the Hormuz Strait,’ as soon as possible, as they try to figure out their leadership situation,” Trump wrote.
He further expressed confidence that Iran would eventually resolve its leadership challenges.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical energy corridors, accounting for a significant share of global crude oil shipments. Any disruption or uncertainty surrounding the route typically triggers heightened geopolitical and economic concerns.
As of press time, there has been no official confirmation from Iranian authorities to substantiate Trump’s claims, raising questions about the accuracy of the assertion.

The development comes amid already strained relations between Washington and Tehran, with tensions around Iran’s nuclear ambitions continuing to draw international attention.
In a separate post, Trump had earlier issued a stern warning to Iran, sharing a dramatic image with the caption: “NO MORE MR NICE GUY.” He added that Iran must act swiftly in addressing nuclear deal concerns, warning that delays could worsen the situation.
Observers note that such statements, particularly without official backing, risk escalating tensions in an already fragile region.
