Enyimba have taken a firm step in response to their recent struggles, announcing the suspension of head coach Stanley Eguma after a poor run of results in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League season.
The club confirmed that Stanley Eguma’s assistants, Ndubuisi Nduka and Joseph Boma, have also been asked to step aside. Their suspension followed Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Wikki Tourists in Aba, a defeat that frustrated home supporters and deepened concerns within the camp. That match was Enyimba’s second home loss of the season and left them 11th on the league table with 17 points from 13 games.
Assistant coach Lawrence Ukaegbu has been placed in temporary charge as the team prepares for a challenging away fixture against Katsina United in Jos. His immediate task is to steady the squad and guide them into the next phase of the season with renewed confidence.
The club explained that the decision was part of a wider effort to scrutinise recent performances and identify what must change. “This review is necessary for the club to regain its form,” Enyimba said. “We are committed to turning things around and ensuring Enyimba remains competitive at the top of Nigerian football.”
The suspension took effect on Sunday after an emergency meeting at the club, where the management assessed the team’s poor run, including four defeats in their last six outings. Officials expressed worry that the downward slide, if unchecked, could derail their campaign.
