Mr Ikyoga Joka Biam,a Know bandit in Sankera,Benue State in the early hours of Monday was shot dead by unknown gunmen.
9News Nigeria recall that, early this year,Mr Ikyoga was one of the repentant bandit from the Sankera axis terrorizing Benue State.Mr Ikyoga was privileged to be offered amnesty by the traditional rulers of the axis;Mr Ikyoga in speech denounce banditry in all ramifications, assuring his people of total peace.
“I am here to surrender myself and every weapon I have,in totality I am done with criminality.I was not a bad person but at a point I was running for my life, people were after me trying to kill me,I had no option but to run for my dear life,I did not only run but I also armed myself,just for protection! I am sorry my kinsmen and people” he stated.
“Today,I surrender with all my boys terrorizing our people and I believe all bandits should do same”.
Sankera is one of the geopolitical zones from Benue,yams are mostly cultivated in this Zone.
The incident has thrown the headquarters of Ukum local government area of the state into chaos as there is a serious tension,questions are being raised over the safety of the community and it environs for fear of retaliation from his camp.
Security agencies are yet to release an official statement on the incident as at the time of filing this report.
