In a significant stride towards gender equality and economic empowerment, a Stakeholders Conference was convened on Wednesday 13, 2023 under the auspices of Nigeria’s Renewed Hope administration of president Tinubu. The event, organized by a coalition of women, served as a catalyst for fostering dialogue and implementing actionable strategies for women’s empowerment in the country.

The conference, held against the backdrop of heightened optimism in Nigeria’s current administration, attracted a diverse array of participants, with Hon Kafilat Ogbara as the chief host. Thought leaders, policymakers, and community members converged to deliberate on pressing issues related to women’s empowerment and gender equality.

The primary focus of the event was to facilitate discussions that could lead to the formulation and implementation of sustainable policies. The overarching goal was to create an environment conducive to gender equality while concurrently fostering economic opportunities for women.

The theme of the conference; Women Empowerment and Sustainable policy Document among
several key themes took center stage during the conference. These included access to education, healthcare, and economic resources for women.

Thought-provoking discussions addressed the challenges faced by women in various sectors, with an emphasis on collaborative solutions to overcome existing barriers.

The conference served as a platform for policymakers to engage in dialogue with stakeholders, ensuring that the perspectives of women were integral to the policymaking process.

Recognizing the importance of grassroots involvement, the event provided a space for community members to voice their concerns and contribute to the development of locally relevant strategies.

Initiatives were discussed to promote economic opportunities for women, including entrepreneurship programs, access to financial resources, and support for women-led businesses.

The conference underscored the need for increased access to quality education and healthcare services for women, acknowledging these as fundamental pillars for empowerment.

As a result of the 2023 Stakeholders Conference, a commitment to tangible action emerged.

However, to ensure the effective implementation of policies and initiatives aimed at women’s empowerment, stakeholders including the Women Affairs Minister, Uju Kennedy, Judith Ogbara(MD CEO. STALLIONAIRE NIG LTD), Representative of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Mrs Victoria Uko, Dangote Foundation represented by Maryam Buhari among others were of the believe that a collaborative approach between the government, civil society, and private sector stakeholders was critical for optimum results.

The event marked a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s pursuit of gender equality and women’s empowerment.

By bringing together diverse stakeholders and fostering meaningful dialogue, the Stakeholders Conference 2023 laid the foundation for a more inclusive and equitable future for women in Nigeria. The Renewed Hope administration’s dedication to these issues was evident, setting a positive tone for continued progress in the empowerment of women.
