A man identified as a Mallam (Teacher) in Hausa language, has been caught after allegedly stealing an iPhone 14 Pro Max from a sleeping man inside a Mosque and attempting to sell it for just N35,000.
The incident, which has been making rounds online, reportedly took place in one of the northern states of Nigeria.
According to sources, the suspect took advantage of the victim’s deep sleep to steal the high-end smartphone which is valued at about N1 million.
However, in an attempt to dispose the device at an outrageously low price raised suspicion among potential buyers.
It was gathered that someone familiar with the real value of the phone questioned the suspect about its ownership.
Unable to provide a convincing explanation, he was confronted, leading to his eventual apprehension.
Reports indicate that the matter escalated when concerned individuals checked the phone and discovered content details linking it back to the original owner.
The incident has sparked reactions online, with many expressing disbelief over the stolen items.
Some commuters noted that the suspect’s desperation to sell the phone at such a low price might have triggered or contributed to his downfall.
