Pastor Abel Damina, Founder and Senior Pastor of Power City International has ignited widespread debate with his bold declaration during the church’s New Year Eve Service to usher in the 2025.
Addressing congregation, the renowned preacher stated that smoking cigars or cigarettes and consuming alcohol are not sins, emphasizing his teachings focus on salvation rather than morality.
In his sermon, Dr. Abel Damina remarked “You cannot be a sinner by eating and drinking. I told you before, alcohol is not a sin”.

“You should have your own sense to know that If you smoke, your body will be affected. If you drink alcohol, you may lie down inside a gutter. These are the lessons you should have learned from your mother’s house”, he added, underscoring the importance of personal responsibility.
